A Pair of Felix Aublet Nickel-Plated Table Lamps

A Pair of Felix Aublet Nickel-Plated Boule Table Lamps produced by Ecart International, Paris, after the original 1925 design. Two nickel-plated brass spheres sit at either end of a curved lyre arm, the lower sphere weighted by a hidden cast-iron ballast, the upper hinged open to form an adjustable hemispherical shade. Each lamp bears the Ecart mark to the underside of its base.

Aublet (1903-1978) was a founding member of the Union des Artistes Modernes and a collaborator of Le Corbusier and Robert Delaunay. The Boule lamp debuted at the 1930 UAM inaugural exhibition and remains one of the most recognized designs of the French machine-age movement. Pairs surface rarely. Both lamps are fully functional with minor surface wear consistent with age.
